Traffic Alert: Diuguids Lane bridge replacement to detour traffic in Roanoke county beginning July 5

Beginning July 5, a section of Route 760 (Diuguids Lane) in Roanoke County will be closed as part of a road project to replace the bridge over the Roanoke River. Traffic will be detoured for approximately 45 days.

The bridge is located at the Salem city limits near Route 760’s intersection with Route 639 (West Riverside Drive). Drivers on Diuguids Lane will need to detour around the closure onto Mill Lane or West Riverside Drive.

Signs and message boards will be posted prior to the closure. In addition, signs will be in place to alert drivers to the detour route.

The road closure and detour were rescheduled from earlier this year due to a delay with fabricating the pre-stressed concrete beams needed to construct the new bridge.

The bridge replacement project will be completed this fall.

General Information:

The Green Hill Park Equestrian Center is a public facility owned by Roanoke County and operated by a private Board of Directors exclusively for the equine enthusiast.

The facility is open year round for members with 3 show rings and a cross country course offering opportunities for all disciplines.

The park is available for rent for horse shows and related events.

Memberships are annual, liability notice and waiver must be signed and fees paid in advance, all horses must have current Coggin's.

Activities:

Horse shows occur on most weekends throughout the spring, summer and fall. These shows are sponsored and managed by local clubs, barns, and horse associations. These shows include dressage, hunters and jumpers, western, racking and fun shows. Local associations such as Pony Club and 4H Clubs also meet at the park.

Park members ride at the facility year round, taking advantage of show rings for schooling, a cross-country course for training, and creek crossing for training young horses. Riding at the park is especially popular during hunting season with equestrians looking for a safe place to ride.
